And so it begins!
November marks the start of PLF’s Amen to Action Fall Food Packing Mission, and St. Andrew the Apostle Parish is proud to take part in this inspiring effort to serve our neighbors in need.
Over the next eight weeks, more than 2,800 volunteers will gather across 14 different churches and universities—including right here in our own faith community—to pack over one million meals for Pittsburgh-area food banks.
Amen to Action was born on the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, when faith leaders from across Pittsburgh came together in prayer. From many different Christian traditions, they united around one goal: to do something spiritually meaningful and tangible for the good of the city.
Led by PLF Founder Reid Carpenter and Diocese of Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik, this movement joined prayer and service as one — transforming faith into action.
As its name reminds us, we say “Amen”… and then we act.
“Prayer without action is dead. Actions without prayer are deadly.”
Through Amen to Action, volunteers bring the life, power, and mission of Christ to others by helping to pack and provide meals for local families facing food insecurity.
We invite all parishioners to pray for and support this mission. Your generosity helps the Pittsburgh Leadership Foundation continue programs like Amen to Action, which unite people of faith to serve those in need and build a stronger, more compassionate community.
Help us make Pittsburgh more famous for God than for anything else.
