A Ministry of our Three Community Parish Locations
The Food Bank of St Andrew the Apostle Parish serves the Communities of Monongahela, Donora, and Charleroi. It runs strictly on a volunteer basis and is funded through the generosity of our Parish Community.
Our Food Bank is held on the second Wednesday of each month, and all the sites have a place to distribute. Charleroi distribution is in Marion Hall, Donora distribution is in the school hall, and Monongahela distribution is at Parish Park. Food is distributed from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm each month. Currently, we’re serving over 125 families.
New volunteers are always welcome to join this Ministry of Service — from grocery shopping and pick-up to food packing and distribution.
If you are interested in becoming part of this ministry, making a monetary donation, or donating to the food bank in memory of a loved one, please call 724-258-7742.
Diaper Bank Ministry
We identified a need in the Valley to support young families and mothers who need diapers. Through a new partnership with Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh, we will now offer a diaper bank aligned with our monthly food bank distribution. Many organizations struggled with where to store diapers. Under the parking lot in Charleroi (in between the rectory and the formation center), where a convent once sat, Fr. Jerry kept the garage and full basement for future use. In 2022, the basement space was waterproofed and refurbished. So that dry, clean, finished space will now be home to the diaper bank. The parish is very excited about all these things happening at our Charleroi campus and will continue to seek ways to leverage all our spaces in our tri-community parish.
